Join the Orthopaedic Translational Engineering Lab (OTEL) and contribute to cutting-edge research in optical imaging and therapeutic technologies for orthopaedics. We are currently seeking talented individuals to fill the following positions:
Postdoctoral Fellow
We are seeking a recent PhD graduate for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, to advance research in photodynamic therapy, fluorescence imaging, and/or orthopaedic trauma physiology. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative translational research in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct experiments in photodynamic therapy, fluorescence imaging, or orthopaedic trauma physiology.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with lab members to develop and optimize research protocols.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences and contribute to grant proposals.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research techniques and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- PhD in biomedical engineering, medical biophysics, or a closely related field, awarded within the last three years.
- Strong research background in photodynamic therapy, fluorescence imaging, or orthopaedic trauma physiology.
- Proven ability to design and execute experiments, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple research tasks effectively.

Preclinical Lab Assistant
We are looking for a dedicated Preclinical Lab Assistant to support our Lab Manager in conducting animal experiments. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for translational research and hands-on experience with animal studies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lab Manager in performing animal surgeries, procedures, and imaging studies.
- Conduct wellness checks on animals, including during off-hours, to ensure their health and well-being.
- Support the preparation and execution of preclinical experiments, including setup and data collection.
- Collaborate with the lab team to maintain a safe and efficient research environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, veterinary science, biomedical engineering) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with animal handling and surgical procedures in a research setting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including off-hours, for animal care and monitoring.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to animal welfare.
